Preservation and Restoration Projects:

Recent Highlight on the Belfry Restoration Available Here

The Museum complex requires an extensive effort to keep its contents in the same condition they were in almost 200 years ago. Here you will see some of our current tasks and some of our triumphs. We hope that this will peak your interest in helping us preserve the contents of this National Landmark.
Buildings:
  • Constant attention has been pad to the paint on each building. This summer the shutters of the Harness Shop and the Print Shop have all been repainted.
  • The Ward House Front door along with the windows have been worked on. The putty around the windows is old and crumbling and has been replaced.
Blacksmith Shop:
  • Bob Querns continues to restore the sash at this site.
  • Kevin Johnson is doing a fantastic job at restoring the tower to the state seen in pictures of the early 1900's
The Church:
  • The Cobblestone Church first had pew cushions in the1870's. By the 1960's these were totally worn out with excelsior falling out of them. They were disposed of and the pews were used with no cushions for a while. This made them rather uncomfortable. The present cushions were made around 1972 or 1973 but poorly fit the pews. By getting new cushions this would improve the look of the pews and make them much more comfortable for whatever occasion the church's interior is employed.
The Grounds:
The upkeep of the grounds is a 24 hour a day job. Many of the required activities are basic upkeep, cutting grass and trimming hedges, yet some of them are more time consuming and tedious.
